윤석열 정부의 R&D 삭감에 깊은 우려… 과학 중심 성장정책을 실천할 리더는 이재명 후보뿐
2025년 5월 27일 -- 미국을 비롯한 북미 전역에 거주하는 재미 한인 과학자, 기술자 및 창업가들이 더불어민주당 이재명 대통령 후보의 ‘과학중심·기술주도 경제정책(Science-Centric and Technology-Driven, 이하 SCTD 정책)’을 전폭 지지하는 공식 성명서를 27일 발표했다.
이들은 성명을 통해 ‘이재명 후보의 SCTD 경제 대도약 정책은 대한민국을 진정한 과학기술 기반 국가로 도약시킬 현실적 전략’이라고 평가하며, 전 세계에서 활동 중인 지식인과 실무 전문가로서 다음 여섯 가지 실천 약속을 제시했다.
1. 대한민국 기업의 세계화를 위해 과학, 기술, 창업정신을 바탕으로 기여할 것
2. 벤처기업이 글로벌 기업으로 성장하는 과학기술 혁신 생태계 조성에 앞장설 것
3. 급변하는 글로벌 시장에 대응하기 위한 실용적 한미 공동 R&D에 적극 참여할 것
4. 미국 북극항로 개척에 있어 대한민국의 글로벌 협력 기반 마련에 일조할 것
5. 세계적 과학기술 혁신 클러스터 및 인재양성 교육 허브 재정립에 동참할 것
6. 대기업부터 소상공인까지 모든 주체가 성장의 과실을 함께 공유하고 다시 성장하는데 기여할 것
이번 선언 참여자들은 미국 주요 대학교와 공공기관에서 활동 중인 학자 및 전문가들로 구성돼 있으며, 다수의 재미한인과학기술자협회(KSEA) 전·현직 회장단도 함께 이름을 올려 정책 지지의 무게를 더했다.
특히 대표 발제자인 이호신 교수(미국 아이오와대학교, 40대 재미한인과학기술자협회 회장)는 “이재명 후보는 과학기술 중심의 실용적 리더십을 갖춘 인물로, 미래세대에게 정의롭고 지속 가능한 성장 기반을 마련할 유일한 후보”라고 강조했다.
이번 선언은 2025년 5월 19일부터 25일까지 재외 선거 국외부재자 선거 종료 시점에 맞춰 공개됐다.

[이재명 대통령 후보의 과학 중심, 기술 주도 경제 성장 정책을 지지하는 자발적인 재미한인 과학자, 기술자, 비즈니스인 및 창업가들의 선언문]
우리 재미한인 과학자, 기술자 및 창업가들은 이재명 대통령 후보의 과학 중심, 기술 주도 경제 대도약의 정책을 지지하며 '진짜 대한민국'에서 모든 국민이 함께 잘사는 시대를 열어가는 데 적극 동참하고 아래와 같이 기여하겠습니다.
1. 과학, 기술 및 창업자 정신으로 대한민국 기업의 세계화에 공헌하겠습니다.
2. 벤처기업이 글로벌 기업으로 성장할 수 있는 대한민국의 과학 기술 혁신 생태계를 만드는 데 앞장서겠습니다.
3. 재미한인 과학자, 기술자 및 창업가와 국내 기업이 함께 참여하는 혁신적이고 실용적인 한미 공동 R&D에 참여하여 급변하는 경제와 시장에 대응하겠습니다.
4. 미국 북극 항로 개척에 대한민국이 함께 참여할 수 있는 기반을 만드는 데 기여하겠습니다.
5. 대한민국을 글로벌 과학 기술 혁신 클러스터로 재창조하고, 세계적 과학 기술 및 창업 인재 양성 요람으로 만드는 데 앞장서겠습니다.
6. 대한민국의 모든 국민, 모든 지역, 대기업부터 소상공인까지 모든 경제 주체가 성장의 과실을 함께 누리는 성장이 다시 시대 도약의 씨앗이 되어 대한민국이라는 거대한 나무로 자라는 데 기여하겠습니다.
끝으로, 이재명 후보는 진정으로 민주주의를 지키고, 과학 중심 기술 주도로 경제를 성장시키고, 더불어 민생을 살리고, 전국민에게 공정한 정의를 복원할 수 있는 위대한 지도자라고 확신하며, 재미한인 과학자, 기술자, 창업가들은 자발적으로 뭉쳐 함께 이재명 후보를 적극 지지합니다.

We shall contribute all our efforts in supporting President Candidate Jae-myung Lee’s Science-Centric and Technology-Driven (SCTD) Economic Quantum Jump Policy that will open a new era in Korea, where all citizens live well amicably together.

We shall, based on science, engineering, and entrepreneurship, dedicate ourselves to the globalization of Korean companies.

We shall lead the development of a science and technology innovation ecosystem where venture companies can grow to be global companies.

Korean American scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs shall participate in the innovative and pragmatic Korea-America Cooperative R&D in response to ever-changing economy and markets.

We shall contribute our efforts in establishing a foundation where Korea can participate in America’s efforts in developing a navigation route in the North Pole.

We shall stand in front in reestablishing the global science and technology innovation cluster and the international education cradle to develop talented scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs.

We shall dedicate our efforts in sharing economic growth fruits among all citizens, all regions, and small and large corporations, planting a seed for the next quantum economic jump, and ultimately growing a giant tree called “One Korea” altogether.
We, Korean American scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs, voluntarily stand united and declare:
Presidential Candidate Jae-myung Lee shall become a great leader who can earnestly defend democracy, grow the Science-Centric and Technology-Driven (SCTD) economy, together save the public welfare system, and reestablish the justice that is fair and equitable to all citizens.
